The production of security printing items involves the production of documents that are valuable to the persons who own them. The items which are of value must be secured; therefore, the documents have to be provided with security from forgery and/or misappropriation. The whole process – starting from the layout to the secure storage to delivery – is executed in various specialized divisions of our company. The journey from raw products to end products which are loaded into vehicles for transportation and delivered from our company is a long one. A journey which takes the product through many different departments located in the strictly secured printing house.
At this stage the security printing project is developed. The graphic image and security measures are created using special computers and software (e.g. specialized security printing design program Jura and Cerber, also CorelDraw!, Freehand, Illustrator, Adobe).
Printing plates and special materials are delivered to the printing machines: printing plates arrive from the plate production department and special materials – from the strong storage facility. First printing starts, it is followed by various processing stages, and finally the process is finished. Ornaments of interlacing bands (guilloches), micro lines, microtext, encrypted printing – are other protection measures forgery. It is extremely difficult for forgers to forge or reproduce the interlaced parti-colored lines and fine micro text. Sheet-fed and reel conventional and “dry” offset, flexo, silk-screen, embossed printing, and intaglio printing machines are used in our printing process. These machines have various finishing functions (numbering, encoding, personalization, die-cutting, holograming, punching, selecting, etc.). Each end product is checked, sorted, and transferred to the strong storage facility, where special materials, semi-manufactured goods, and end products are safely stored. Optimum climate conditions (required temperature, humidity, etc.), as in all our security premises where security printing items are produced, are created in the strong storage facility.
Various protective inks can be used, e.g. with optically variable features, and which change their properties under ultraviolet or infrared light, are affected by heat (cold), light, chemical substances, various liquids, mechanical impact, or in the case of an attempt to copy; also various numbering and magnetic/machine readable inks.
Security measures such as holograms and kinegrams with two- / three-dimensional images and other tiny unique elements provide extremely effective and very modern protection – there is no need to doubt the authenticity of the document.
It can also contain visible or invisible multi-coloured fluorescent fibres, planchettes, and tiny dots which are fluorescent under ultraviolet light, or fluorescent or metal threads, which become visible under ultraviolet light. Unique features can be attributed to this paper to enable instant verification of the document. The paper can also have a variety of other customized security elements.
